PUR or not PUR?
You will notice that many vinyl floorcoverings, particularly contract vinyl and vinyl tile and strip flooring, advertise that they feature PUR (polyurethane reinforcement).
Normal PU vinyl flooring has a polyurethane surface treatment, which provides a foundation for an ongoing cleaning regime, but will over time require further coats of polish to keep the floor looking its best.
PUR vinyl flooring benefits from polyurethane reinforcement of the surface wear-layer, which as well as providing excellent wear characteristics, also guarantees a lifelong polish-free maintenance regime. It has been estimated by some manufacturers that maintenance cost savings between 30% - 45% can be expected for the life of a PUR product through reduced energy, water and chemical usage.
